  • Significant personnel changes at IfB (Institute of Management) characterized 2012: We were pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Björn Ambos as Chair and member of the Executive Board. He is an internationally renowned specialist in strategic management and joined us from the WU in Vienna in the 2012 fall semester. On the other hand, we had to take leave of two colleagues, who had successfully worked at the HS for several decades until their retirement in the 2012 fall semester. The first is Prof. Dr Peter Gomez, who came to the IfB in 1990 and devoted himself specifically to holistic business management. The second, Prof. Dr Markus Schwaninger, came to the IfB as full-time lecturer in 1998 and was promoted to adjunct professor in Business Studies in 1993. His particular fields were Cybernetics and System Dynamics. Both colleagues were intensively involved in the development of the St.Gallen Management Model. Furthermore, Prof. Dr Matthias Brauer is unfortunately leaving us as he has accepted a position at the University of Luxembourg. Prof. Dr. Timo Meynhardt is exchanging the Institute of Manament for the MCM Institute due to its greater content affinity with his CLVS team. We would like to thank all these gentlemen heartily for their dedicated work for the IfB. With regard to our teaching, we can look back on the successful start of the new “Master in Business Management” (German: MUG) presented in German, as well as the first place that our Master of Strategy and International Management (SIM) achieved in the Financial Times ranking. During 2012, a range of outstanding academic publications once again saw the light. We find the transfer publications aimed at company practice especially important: A large number of articles, case studies, commissioned studies, etc. were developed for this target group. All this did not, of course, just happen. Once again we would like to thank all our colleagues, partners, and sponsors for their essential engagement. We hope that 2013 will be as interesting and successful, and look forward to further collaboration!

  • Jahresbericht 2011The year 2011 was marked by several innovations. We were able to welcome Prof. Dr. Tomi Laamanen at his new chair and on the Executive Board. He is an internationally recognized expert in Strategic Management and comes from the Aalto University in Helsinki. Furthermore we developed the new German master degree course "Master in Unternehmensführung" (MUG) for the start of the autumn term 2012. This degree course will complement our English degree course "Master of Strategy and International Management" (SIM). To our great delight the SIM degree course has achieved a top rank in the Financial Times ranking for the second time in succession. This is an honor for our entire university.

  • Front page of the IoM annual report 20102010 was a challenging year for us. Even if the"wind" was heavily blowing against us, we were able to successfully continue our journey. The results speak for themselves. In research for example, our scientists were once more able to place their findings in leading international journals.
